The team was simply called Damwon Gaming from 2017 to 2020 before changing its name to DWG KIA due to its partnership with leading South Korean automaker KIA Motors.

According to a press release, the new name retains the letter “D” to refer to the organization’s heritage, while adding the “plus” to represent “the expansive potential for a bright future.” KIA remains the primary sponsor of the organization and remains on behalf of the organization.

Dplus KIA noted that the new brand is the beginning of its efforts to establish a global presence. This includes the development and execution of business opportunities that will increase awareness of the Dplus KIA brand worldwide.
