The Pokémon Company has announced details of the Pokémon Unite Championship Series 2023, the company’s largest eSports tournament for mobile MOBA Pokémon Unite.
The tournament consists of a series of qualifying events each month beginning in February 2023 and culminating in the World Championships in Yokohoma, Japan. The 2023 World Championship will feature a total prize pool of $500,000 (~£411,000).

This year, the tournament is open to players from eleven regional zones, including Brazil, Europe, Latin America (South and North), North America and Oceania. A total of 17 teams will qualify for the World Cup. Details about the Pokémon UNITE Championship Series in Asian regions have not yet been announced.
The tournament consists of regional qualifiers followed by monthly finals. Players earn Championship Points (CP) based on their performance, with the best teams progressing to regional championships. The top-performing teams from the Regional Championships will be selected to compete in the Pokémon World Championships later in the year.
In March 2023, players can also participate in the Aeos Cup, a special tournament that awards prizes and more CP than the monthly tournaments. The Aeos Cup will feature a total prize pool of $25,000 (~£21,000), while the regional championships will award a total of $50,000 (~£41,000).
The first open qualifier of the Pokémon Unite Championship will take place on February 4, 2023.

Pokémon Unite is a mobile and Nintendo Switch game in which two teams of five players compete to score points through card objectives. The game was released in 2021, although its competitive scene started a year later in 2022.
