Weekly Quest Guide: Week Twelve – DOTABUFF

By far the easiest week yet, which is a nice break after an absolutely devastating week eleven. With a straightforward diretide quest and several quests that work in co-op bot matches, this week should be a breeze.

This quest works with bots, but to maximize your time’s effectiveness you need a hero with plenty of regen who doesn’t mind being on the front lines, tanking hits, and generally being a nuisance. We think Timbersaw is the best fit.

He’s very unlikely to die from bots, doesn’t die himself jumping off towers, and can just spawn in an area by repeatedly pressing Blademail. The added benefit is that he doesn’t actually need any other items for this, making it easy to do other quests at the same time.

This quest has a minimum requirement of three games, so it’s the biggest time commitment. Nobody says you should use the Aghanims or that they have to be effective, so essentially you can base them on any hero.

This is a quest that we recommend completing in bot matches unless you’re playing some specific heroes that don’t ruin their item progression by going to Aghanim too soon. There are only a handful of heroes where an Aghanim first-second item is acceptable.

In no particular order, they are: Zeus, Bristleback, Vengeful Spirit, Void Spirit, and Dark Seer. In games where you dominate, consider using it on Dawnbreaker, Specter, Kunkka, and Primal Beast to delay a defensive item. This is a high risk, high reward game, but it might work.

Again, this quest can be completed in co-op bot matches, so it’s mostly trivial. There’s also no win requirement, so it should be completed in a main game or two with ease. Ask your teammates to stack, or stack yourself and you’ll be fine.

It also goes well with the Blade Mail quest. Blade Mail is one of the better farm speeding items in game when playing Tanky Heroes.

There are eleven towers in the game, so this may take a while if you don’t get the last few hits. To be honest, if you’re just playing the game regularly, it should be complete.

If you are still having problems, getting Leshrac or Death Prophet and destroying towers from the fog is an option. Alternatively, heroes like Techies and Pugna can deal quite a bit of magic damage to a turret for a final hit. Finally, if all else fails, there’s always Tiny, who should have no trouble destroying buildings in the late game.

The Diretide quest that just assumes you play the mode regularly. There is no trick, there is no win requirement, so this quest should be over in no time.

As a side note, for Diretide in general, picking heroes who can flash farm is definitely an option. As long as you have enough heroes who can fight.

By repeatedly clearing top and bottom neutral camps, you can quickly gain a massive tier advantage.

Blocking camps or ganking enemy farmer heroes is also a very good idea, and we think defense is extremely important in Diretide for exactly that reason.

You can also stack the next neutrals once at the 0:30 mark, after which they will spawn every minute.

Good luck with your Tusk chests this week and may the Candy Works bless you with arcanas.
